While this game has nothing to do with the movie Galaxy Quest, although I was hoping it would, it is still a fun outer space adventure that is similar to a bust-a-move style game, but feature square crystals instead of marbles. We can chose from two main characters to play, a space explorer or a spaceship captain that goes looking for the missing explorer. You might see many similarities in characters from your favourite sci-fi films in this game, and there is enough techo-babble dialogue in between puzzles to maintain the theme.

Zeus, Lord of all Olympus, is feeling a bit tired of his job. He’s been at it forever, and is looking to retire. His choice of successor is the wise Athena, the goddess of wisdom and excellence in battle. Surely no one can find fault with his choice, since Athena is the most intelligent and stable member of his divine family. Wrong! Everyone now wants a piece of the action, and to hold on to her claim to the Throne of Olympus, Athena is going to be challenged by all the major Olympians and their minions. One at a time, thanks the gods! And so starts the match 3 puzzle game that decides Athena’s fate.

Unlike many other match 3 puzzle games out there, Season Match: Curse of the Witch Crow was a bit more refreshing in its gameplay mechanics. Instead of switching icons around to match up with a line of two or more similar ones like in Asami’s Sushi Shop, you merely have to find at least three icons that are the same in one area and click on them, and they just fall from the puzzle, automatically breaking any barriers like stone walls, fences and ice shields nearby. The premise of the story is that the Witch Crow is holding all the seasons’ month brothers and sisters hostage by using enchantments. Not having played the original game or its first sequel, I was a bit in the dark about what was going on here, so I might just have to backtrack and give them a try.

This is not a typical match 3 puzzle game. There is some adventure going on here when your castaway find himself on a tropical island. Vesuvia’s match 3 puzzles take you on a path to search for items to help him search not only for a way to get home, but to find the clues to a mystery of those whom has been on this island before he got here. From the beaches to the jungles, your puzzles will take you along, featuring creatures and items normally found in the area, such as colourful insects, birds, monkeys, and tropical fruits. In some puzzles you move along the map to find torches to light your path, and some don’t need them. Other items are there to help, like a raft to get you over water hurdles, bug spray to get you through hordes of biting insects, traps, dynamite, and other helpful objects you can gain by filling up the color bottles. This is an addictive game, with a good storyline that keeps you curious about what will happen to your castaway next, plus who or what he might encounter along the way. Take a trip to Vesuvia right now, and just try not to get caught up in the fun.
