For those that do not know what the Hall of Monuments is, it is a special way to be able to link Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 together. This was done like this because the game takes place 250 years after the end of the first game and the stories that are used in Guild Wars Beyond. With it being so far in the future or after the first game you definitely can not have the same character from the first but you can use some of the achievements of your Guild Wars character in the sequel MMO. You access those achievements in the Hall of Monuments at The Eye of the North.
This marks the 3rd open beta weekend for Guild Wars 2. This is the last one that they are going to be having before they release the entire game to the public on August 28 of this year. For those that pre-purchased the game, they will get a 3 day head start. It is sure to be one hell of a week when it is released. As to this weekend all characters were wiped and everyone is making new characters. What makes it even more special is that we can now make Sylvari and Asura characters.
Here below is a video of a character being created, a Sylvari Ranger. The video shows all of the steps that you take when you are creating a character. I have added some narration to the video so you know what is going on. You will also hear the games music as well so you know what to expect when you finally create your own character. Just so you know, each option that you choose will change the video that you get to see after character creation. You determine what it is that you are going to see as you choose your characters traits and pick their life choices. So your video might not be like the one that you see here because of that fact.
June 8th through June 10th saw the second beta weekend for Guild Wars 2. While there were many stops and starts for the weekend it has been turning out quite well. Any time there has been a game breaking or client breaking problem the Live Team for Guild Wars 2 has been right there to get it fixed as quick as possible. If only other games were as quick to get patches into there games. ArenaNet and their team should be commended for the way that they have been looking after the game and any problems that might come up. With the testing that they are doing it is sure to be one hell of an opening day when Guild Wars 2 or GW2 goes live for the world to see.
This weekend started the first public beta weekend with no NDA and what a weekend it is starting out to be. So far things look very polished though we are only able to play Norn, Human or Char at least on the world that I chose to play. I can not say what the other ones will or would allow but I am sure that they will be testing everything out thoroughly as the beta events go on.
Starting I took a look at the various races that were open and they are cute as can be on the females and rather hansom for the males. You are able to control all the various aspects of your characters physical appearance. You can control the heights, the weight as well as the various parts of the body. Where you see the most sliders are that of the face. You have three sections for those, you have the eyes, the nose and the mouth and chin. Each giving you various different options so that you can make a character that is uniquely your own. I literally spent 30 minutes just deciding how I wanted my toon to look. Some would want to jump right in but I wanted to see all the options that were available for character creation.
The most recent addition to NCSoft and ArenaNet’s flagship is that of Guild Wars Eye Of The North. This expansion takes place 8 years after the searing of Ascalon. This is a true expansion as you must have one of the previous games installed to play. The other Guild Wars games are Guild Wars Prophecies, Guild Wars Factions and Guild Wars Nightfall. Adding GW:EN to any of them will unlock a whole new experience for your characters that you might already have.
